Why winter works on this mountain

Highveld winter days are dry, still and gold. No afternoon thunderstorm over your outdoor ceremony, no humidity flattening anyone’s hair. The sun sets early, so your golden hour photographs happen before dinner instead of during it. And a hall wrapped in draping and fairy lights, with the fires lit outside, is at its best on a cold night.

The money part

Midweek winter dates carry our base price of R58,000 for 50 guests with no weekend loading. The rondavels are easier to book out for your whole party, and suppliers are hungrier for work in winter, which is polite language for cheaper.

What to plan for

Gas heaters on the veranda, blankets on the chapel benches, and a hot drinks station when guests arrive. We include the heaters and the fire pits. The blankets make the best favours, because people take them home and use them.
